A small village by the Trent with farmland around it still has warm kitchens. If cockroaches have turned up, we will find where they are living and treat it.
In a small riverside village, the unusual thing about a cockroach sighting is how it got there. Typically it is something carried in: a second-hand appliance, boxes from a move, a delivery or a visitor's bag. Once indoors, a warm kitchen with a damp corner is all they need, and river-valley air can add moisture to older cottages. A single sighting does not prove a large problem, but a few days of repeats usually point to a settled group.
We check kitchens, pantries, bathrooms and boiler spaces, identify the species and treat the harbourages. If the house has an outbuilding where food or appliances are kept, we look there too. With few neighbours close by, the cause is usually within the property, and our free advice covers how to keep it from happening again. Cockroaches are mostly active after dark, so the clearest evidence is often found by torch, in the early hours or on the first trip downstairs.
Dampness can. Cockroaches need moisture, so a damp cottage or cellar may suit them. Fixing leaks and ventilating help, but the river itself is not the usual source. If you are unsure, ring 0115 937 5117 and describe what you have seen.
We cover Nottingham and the surrounding area, including villages. There are no call-out charges and prices are fixed, so travelling to you does not add a separate fee. We would rather say so honestly than overstate what is likely.
They can arrive in deliveries, boxes or from neighbouring properties and settle where there is warmth, food and moisture.

A house by the river and fields has more wildlife on its doorstep than most. A short seasonal checklist keeps the visitors outside where they belong.
Read the advice →A dog that spends the day in fields and along the river can bring fleas through the door by evening. Most of the eggs end up in the house, not on the dog.
