Semi-detached homes share a wall, and often a roof void, with one neighbour. If that neighbour has cockroaches, they can reach your side through gaps around pipes or in the party wall. Equally, the cause may sit entirely in your own kitchen, with a warm appliance and a crumb-filled gap behind it. Telling the two apart is part of the job. Fridge and freezer door seals can trap crumbs and moisture, and they are worth wiping from time to time.
